Understanding Your Treatment

What Is Tone and How Does It Work?

Tone uses focused electromagnetic energy to stimulate involuntary muscle contractions in the treatment area — and the way it does that is what makes it different from anything you can replicate in a gym.

During voluntary exercise, the brain sends signals through the central nervous system to activate muscle fibres. Electromagnetic muscle stimulation bypasses that pathway entirely, directly stimulating the motor neurons that control the muscle. The result is supramaximal contractions — contractions at a depth, frequency, and intensity that voluntary effort simply can’t produce.

Over a series of sessions, that repeated stimulation drives muscle fibre adaptation, increasing density and strength in the targeted area progressively over time.

At Springs Body Sculpting, Tone is used for two distinct applications. For body treatments, it targets muscles in areas like the abdomen, glutes, arms, and calves to build definition and improve tone. For facial applications, it stimulates the underlying facial muscles that support skin structure and lift — making it a natural complement to skin tightening treatments.

It’s worth being clear about what Tone is and isn’t. It builds the muscle foundation and improves definition, but it doesn’t address fat or skin laxity. Patients looking to tackle both muscle and fat together tend to see more comprehensive results when Tone is combined with a fat reduction treatment as part of a broader plan.

Every treatment at Springs Body Sculpting is performed under the oversight of Dr. Dunham and our team of board-certified surgeons and trained estheticians, bringing extensive experience in cosmetic procedures to every session.

Tone Treatment FAQs

When will I see results?

Because this treatment is performed as a series of consecutive treatments, results build upon one another with each session, creating a cumulative result by the end of your plan. We always do follow-up photos and measurements throughout your series to track and show your success.

EmSculpt NEO combines HIFEM Plus electromagnetic muscle stimulation with radiofrequency energy to simultaneously build muscle and reduce fat.

Tone focuses on muscle stimulation only, without the fat reduction component.

If both muscle building and fat reduction are goals, EmSculpt NEO is typically the more efficient choice.

Tone works well for patients who want focused muscle development in a specific area without the fat reduction component, or as a maintenance tool between EmSculpt NEO sessions.

Ready to Build Strength and Definition?

We will evaluate your goals and build a Tone treatment plan designed around the definition you are working toward. All our treatment protocols are customized and tailored per patient, utilizing our strategic and methodical approach to create comprehensive stacked plans that are results-driven as opposed to being “sales”-driven. Comprehensive treatment plans are complete overarching, and often “stacked” protocols, where we focus on the end-result as the main goal upon completion. We strategically combine tailored methods of various treatments to work in symbiosis with one another to achieve the overall desired result.
